Culinary Compass: A Guide to Data Maintenance

Web-Based Updates to Your Restaurant's Operational Data

Your Digital Toolkit

... design your own online presence

You can log in to the feratel WebClient as a business via the link https://webclient4.deskline.net/VIT/de/login. You will receive your login name from Füssen Tourism and Marketing (FTM) after you have registered via the registration form as a restaurant or bar located within the city limits of Füssen (including all neighborhoods).

Once your business has been added to our system, a link to set your password will be sent to you via email.

After logging in with your credentials via the web-based client, this interface will appear.

It is important to enter the business hours so that the business listing on www.fuessen.de can show, for example, whether the business is currently open.

The time periods and opening hours that generally apply at all times should be set with the year extending far into the future. They can be adjusted or updated at any time.

Please remember to also enter the description text in English. Our website is displayed in two languages (German and English).

Be sure to include a copyright notice and the author’s name for the text here as well.

Note:
In order for a data entry—such as your restaurant—to be imported into BayernCloud, one of the following three copyright options (CC0, CC-BY, CC-BY-SA) must be used for the images, text, and logo.

Under the “General Data” menu item in “Data Maintenance/Infrastructure,” you’ll find a map view. Füssen Tourism and Marketing (FTM) has already placed a pin on the map when your business was created. If you’d like to correct the pin’s location, please contact us.

Note: In the map view displayed in TOSC within the business’s detail view, it may take a short while for the updated display to appear after a change has been made.

Click the “Descriptions” menu item under “Data Maintenance/Infrastructure.” It is sufficient to create a long description to present your business in detail. If you’d like to add additional text, you’re welcome to do so.

Under “Copyright and Data Usage Settings,” please add a CC license* and the author(s).

Then, please use the “+ Add description for another language” function to add the description in English.

*CC licenses = Creative Commons licenses

Note:
For a data entry—such as your restaurant—to be imported into BayernCloud, one of the following three copyright options (CC0, CC-BY, CC-BY-SA) must be used for each of the images, text, and logo.

Photos give guests a glimpse into your business and may influence their choice of restaurant, café, or any of the many other options for enjoying food and drinks. That’s why we ask you to upload photos of the interior as well as an exterior shot. Perhaps you’d also like to showcase your specialty dish?

Please follow these steps:

  • Under “Data Maintenance/Infrastructure,” select the “Images & Video” menu item.
  • Upload the images by either dragging them directly into the designated area or by clicking on the area to add them.
  • You can position the images anywhere in the WebClient using drag-and-drop. The first image is the main image.
  • Enter the CC license* and the corresponding author(s) of the image.
  • The image description is used as alt text for accessibility and must be provided along with the uploaded photo—please also translate it into English. This can be done using the edit pencil icon next to “Description” on the image. Here, an automatic image description generated by artificial intelligence can already be triggered for German. Additionally, this automatic image description can then be translated into English.
  • Unfortunately, the name of the uploaded image must be translated manually, as it is not yet possible to have it translated automatically. If no title is assigned to the image, the file name will appear.

Note:
In order for a data set—such as your restaurant—to be imported into BayernCloud, one of the following three copyright options (CC0, CC-BY, CC-BY-SA) must be used for the images, text, and logo.

Recommended image size and format: 2048 x 1536 pixels (but at least 1024 x 768) and in landscape orientation for optimal display on our website.

TIP:
Images featuring people should be avoided, as a model release is generally not available from all individuals depicted.

Explanation of the term “model release”: This is a written declaration of consent in which a person depicted agrees to the publication and use of their photos or videos. It primarily governs the permission granted, the intended purpose, and the rights of use.

You can also upload your logo via the "Logo" tab next to "Images." It will then be displayed in the detail view for your business.

Be sure to include the appropriate copyright notice with your logo as well.

You can upload your current menu in PDF format via “Data Maintenance/Infrastructure” under the “General Data” menu item.
There is a tab here titled “Miscellaneous Settings.” If you provided FTM with a website for your business in the registration form, that website will be listed below.
Use the “Documents” function to upload the PDF file containing the menu.

Recommendation: The file name should include the word “Menu” or a similar term.

Under the “Facilities” menu item in “Data Maintenance/Infrastructure,” you can enter information about your facility. Here, you can select criteria related to “Health and Safety” as well as “Sustainability.”

This information about your facility’s features is displayed in color-coded info boxes in the detailed view of your facility.

  • We use "DeepL" for the English translation.

  • Check your opening and closing times regularly and update the information in your profile accordingly.

Tipp

Your data and information should be reviewed and updated at regular intervals. Advance notices—such as announcements about business closures—and updates to your hours of operation are just as important as an up-to-date menu or photos of your business.

To help you with this, we’ll be happy to send you reminders via email and/or our newsletter.
