The museum of the town of Füssen is located in the former Benedictine monastery of St. Mang and offers you a fascinating insight into the rich history and culture of Füssen. Here you can immerse yourself in the past and learn more about the eventful history of Füssen and its surroundings. The museum presents an impressive collection that ranges from Roman times to the Middle Ages and modern times. Particularly noteworthy are the precious historical musical instruments, which shed new light on Füssen as a former metropolis of lute and violin making. Discover artfully crafted lutes, violins and other instruments that bear witness to the master craftsmanship of past centuries.

Exhibition focus

Another highlight is the section on the history of the monastery and the work of St. Magnus, the patron saint of Füssen. In the historic monastery rooms, you can admire an impressive collection of sacred works of art that illustrate the spiritual and cultural significance of the monastery. The museum of the city of Füssen also offers you changing special exhibitions that take up and explore a wide variety of topics from art and history. Here you can always discover something new and be inspired by the diversity and cultural wealth of Füssen. Whether you are a history buff, music lover or simply curious - the Museum of the City of Füssen invites you on an exciting journey through time. The rest of the building houses the Füssen town council offices.

Baroque rooms
Das Foto zeigt die Köpfe zweier Putten, die sich an Mund und Nase berühren. Sich also scheinbar küssen. Die Puttenköpfe haben braune Haare und blaue Augen. An der Stelle der Kragen sind goldene Engelsflügel zu sehen.
Exhibition focus
Man blickt in eine Geigenbauerwerkstatt. Viele Geigen und Bratschen hängen an einer Schnur nebeneinander. Ein Regal ist mit Hölzern, Schablonen und Latten gefüllt. Ein Regal mit Gläsern und Flaschen voller Flüssigkeiten. Vor einem Fenster steht eine Werkbank. Über der Szenerie hängt ein Firmenschild. Darauf steht: „Konrad Leonhart, Geigenbaumeister.“ Am Schreibtisch im Hintergrund lehnt ein Cello. Das Regal über dem Schreibtisch ist mit Büchern und Ordnern gefüllt.
Imperial Hall
Ein Paar betrachtet die prunkvolle Innenausstattung eines Schlosses. Die Fassade beeindruckt mit blauen Säulen und Stuck.

The museum is open:

  • Summer opening hours until the end of October 2026: Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  • Winter opening hours from the beginning of November 2026 to the end of March 2027: Friday to Sunday from 1.30 - 4.00 pm

Christmas Eve / Christmas Day / New Year's Eve / New Year's Day: closed

Tickets are available directly from the museum ticket office.

  • Adults 6.00 EUR
  • Reduced 5.00 EUR (e.g. with FüssenCard, groups of 10 or more, senior citizens, severely disabled persons)
  • Combined ticket for museums 9.00 EUR (Museum of the City of Füssen and State and Picture Gallery in the High Castle)

Children and young people under the age of 18 and school classes have free admission.
