Starting Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the B17 through Schwangau (Hauptstraße) will be closed due to extensive renovation work. The first construction phase between Schelleweg and Föhrenbergweg is expected to last until December 18, 2026. In total, the work is scheduled to take place in four phases and last until June 2028.
Please note the following information:
- Hohenschwangau and the royal castles will remain accessible from all directions.
- Traffic will be rerouted through the town of Hohenschwangau.
- For vehicles over 3.80 m in height, a wide detour is in place from Steingaden via Roßhaupten and the B16 to Füssen.
- Smaller vehicles can travel from Buching via the OAL 1 to Roßhaupten.
- Access for residents and those living along the route generally remains possible, but may be temporarily restricted due to individual road closures. Travelers should allow extra time for their journey during the construction period and follow the posted detour signs.
