The Kempten State Building Authority has announced full closures of the König-Ludwig Bridge on the B16 between Füssen and Schwangau for the installation of the asphalt surface course.
The work will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026, between 9:00 p.m. and midnight, and on Monday, July 27, 2026, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. the following day. Due to weather conditions, the schedule may be subject to change; updates will be provided in a timely manner.
Detours in both directions are signposted and will run via the B17, the A7 highway border tunnel, or the B310. According to the RVA,the late-night bus route Füssen–Hohenschwangau–Bannwaldsee–Schwangau–Füssen will still operate according to schedule on Thursday, July 23, 2026. A second bus is expected to be added on Monday, July 27, 2027.
The repair work on the König-Ludwig Bridge, which has been underway since early May 2026, is proceeding at full speed and is expected to be completed on schedule on July 31, 2026, in time for the start of summer vacation.
