Allgäu hiking trilogy
The Allgäu hiking trilogy offers 876 kilometers of long-distance hiking trails at three altitudes across the entire Allgäu. What sets the Allgäu hiking trilogy apart from long-distance hiking offers in other German regions is its flexibility. You can put together your own individual tour from the main routes and their connecting trails - according to your preferences and fitness level.
The routes of the hiking trilogy
Hiking in the Allgäu means hiking at three altitudes: flat, hilly and mountainous. Accordingly, the main hiking trail is divided into three interconnected main routes:
- The "Wiesengänger Route" through the foothills of the Alps with longer, but rather flatter stages is something for nature-loving connoisseurs.
- The "Wasserläufer Route" along the rivers and lakes is of medium difficulty.
- The "Himmelsstürmer Route" through the mountain landscape is aimed at ambitious hikers.
Stationary long-distance hiking
Experience an unforgettable 5-day hike on the Allgäu hiking trilogy around the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle - with no daily change of accommodation, just a light daypack and free public transport. The "royal" stages of the Wasserläufer-Himmelsstürmer route between Halblech and Nesselwang are among the most scenic routes. Spend the night in nearby Füssen - from there you can easily reach the starting points by bus or mountain railroad and return to Füssen just as comfortably.
