Whether skiing, snowboarding or sledging - there are winter activities for young and old in Füssen and the surrounding area. As you know, there is no guarantee of snow. So check the current snow report from Allgäu GmbH.
Skiing and snowboarding
The Tegelberg ski arena is ideal as a family ski area near Füssen - beginners can improve their skiing skills here on the Adlerlift and Falkenlift. The Pfronten ski center at the foot of the Breitenberg is also an ideal family ski area in the Allgäu with its five T-bar lifts. The slopes at the Sonnenlifte ski lifts near Pfronten Röfleuten or on the Buchenberg in Halblech offer further enjoyable descents and skiing fun for the whole family. At the Alpspitze Nesselwang and the Bergwelt Hahnenkamm near Reutte, winter sports fans will find the most versatile ski and snowboard areas in the area around Füssen: the fun parks, for example, promise extra fun while snowboarding.
Free of charge on the slopes
With the KönigsCard , you can even ski and snowboard for free. Three hours of skiing on selected lifts in the Allgäu are included for stays of two nights or more. You can find the list of ski resorts directly on the KönigsCard website.
Ski tours
The ascent with touring skis is now very popular with winter sports enthusiasts in the secured area . In many ski resorts around Füssen, special ascent routes have been defined and signposted for this purpose. For example, the ski touring trail on the Tegelberg.
Avalanche equipment and training outside the ski areas are very important in addition to technical skills. The German Alpine Association and various mountain sports schools offer appropriate courses.
Important note: On some routes, there may be partial double use by ski tourers and tobogganists. Therefore, please watch out for oncoming tobogganists on your tour! Mutual consideration ensures winter fun for all outdoor fans.
Tobogganing
There are some beautiful natural toboggan runs around Füssen, for example at the Buchenbergalm above Buching. The ascent from the Buchenbergbahn parking lot takes around 1.5 hours, or 10 minutes on the chairlift. The Breitenberg also offers plenty of tobogganing fun for young and old with the longest natural toboggan run in the Allgäu at around 6 kilometers! On the Vilser Kegel, the winding toboggan run can be combined with a lovely stop at the Vilser Alm mountain hut after a winter hike of around 3 kilometers and an ascent of around 360 meters.
Tips for sledging
- The condition of every natural toboggan run depends on the weather and can change quickly.
- Observethe instructions for use and signs .
- Sturdy shoes with treaded soles, warm and waterproof trousers and jacket, gloves.
- Be considerate.
- If you fall, leave the toboggan run immediately together with your sledge.
- Do not stop at blind spots.
- When ascending, walk one behind the other at the edge of the toboggan run.
