The city of Füssen has announced that, according to current plans, construction work to close the gap in the bike path in Hopfen am See will resume on September 16, 2026. The current construction phase includes the completion of the pedestrian bridge over Lake Hopfensee and the construction of the bike path along State Road 2008 between the East Pedestrian Bridge and the Hopfen Campground. The bus stop on Höhenstraße will also be redesigned and made accessible.
Construction-related disruptions are expected along the lakeside road and promenade in Hopfen am See for pedestrians, cyclists, and motor vehicle traffic alike. Since the work is taking place directly at the edge of State Road 2008, one side of the road will have to be closed in sections. Traffic will be directed past the construction site in alternating directions using traffic lights. Pedestrians will be directed to the sidewalk on the north side of State Road 2008 between Uferstraße 3 and 18 and are asked to follow the detours posted on-site. In addition, increased noise levels are to be expected from October 1 through 12, 2026, due to the driving of oak piles into the ground.
