Further bus offers

Late bus, valley bus

Two bus lines will take Munich's outdoor fans and excursionists to the mountains at weekends without the need for a car. From June 2026, the Munich BergBus is expected to operate two routes on Saturdays and Sundays, each with two trips from Munich to popular excursion and hiking destinations that are otherwise difficult to reach by public transport.

The "996 BergBus" line runs to Pfronten in Ostallgäu and on to the Wieskirche church in the district of Weilheim-Schongau.
The "396 BergBus " line runs to Bayrischzell, Leitzachtal / Ursprungpass (Miesbach district) and on to Thiersee in Tyrol.

The Munich BergBus has also been integrated into the MVV since 2025. For passengers, this means that the MVV fare applies on the buses and up-to-date passenger information can be accessed via the MVV information channels.
The Deutschlandticket is also valid on both routes. As the Münchner BergBus operates as a general scheduled service, it is not necessary to book seats before the journey. However, due to the limited capacity on the bus, it is recommended to reserve a seat in advance. This is possible in the MVV app and the MVV information service on the web at mvv-auskunft.de.
Please also note: As the BergBuses travel on the highway, standing room is not permitted in addition to seats.

Free transportation for passengers with the Königscard and guests of Bergbahnen Grän/Breitenberg on the day of transportation on the Pfronten - Tannheimer Tal route. (From May 24 to October 26, 2026)

For all other passengers, the tariff regulations of the Verkehrsverbund Tirol (VVT) apply. For legal reasons, the Deutschlandticket is not valid on the cross-border services of the Tälerbus. There is no transportation between Pfronten-Ried station and Pfronten-Steinach station. Bicycles (not e-bikes) can be transported free of charge on the rear rack of the bus, subject to availability.
